Shade grown coffee plantations play a key role in the conservation of migratory birds, which find a sanctuary in their forest-like environment. Not only are acres and acres of rainforest spared from deforestation, the coffee crop is actually much richer and more productive when planted below the canopy of the rainforest. The Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center (SMBC) has developed the only 100%-organic shade-grown coffee certification. Many of our organic beans come from shade-grown plantations. Our roaster is always looking for new sources of shade grown organic coffees. We are committed to making the world a better place to live.
